Sponsor Spotlight, Save-On-Foods
When we tell people that schools keep 100% of the proceeds from our pancake breakfasts and BBQ fundraisers, the first question is almost always the same: how is that possible?
The honest answer is that we don't do it alone. Behind every griddle full of pancakes is a network of sponsors who help cover the costs, and today we want to shine a light on one of them: Save-On-Foods.
Local business, local impact
The partnership between Save-On-Foods and the Lynn Valley Lions Club is a classic example of a local business and a community service organization teaming up to make a direct impact right in their own backyard.
Our School Program is one of the clearest examples. Since 2001, we have been hosting pancake breakfasts and BBQ fundraisers at local elementary schools, and the model only works because every cost is covered before a single pancake is sold:
Our Lions bring the pancakes, canned fruit, cookshack equipment, and the volunteer manpower. The school's PAC pitches in with juice boxes, fresh fruit comes through the district fruit program, and sponsors like Save-On-Foods help keep the pantry stocked.
The result? Every dollar raised at these events goes directly back to the hosting elementary school to fund programs, equipment, and activities for the kids. No fees, nothing deducted.
Beyond the schoolyard
The support doesn't stop at school fundraisers. Save-On-Foods has also been a reliable supporter of our landmark community events, including Lynn Valley Days.
Whether it is supplying food and logistics for large-scale public cookouts or backing neighbourhood donation drives, Save-On-Foods serves as a critical supply-chain backbone for our hospitality initiatives. When the Lions are feeding a crowd, they are helping behind the scenes.
Why partnerships like this matter
Community service runs on more than good intentions. Food, supplies, and equipment all cost money, and without sponsors, those costs would eat into the funds we raise for our community.
When a local business steps up, it changes the math entirely. Their support means we can make a simple, powerful promise to every school we work with: you keep it all.
It also means that when families buy pancakes at their school fundraiser or a burger at a community event, they are part of a full circle of community support. A local grocer helps a local service club feed local families, and the money goes right back into local classrooms, playgrounds, and programs.
That is what community looks like when it works.
Thank you, Save-On-Foods
This year, our School Program celebrates 25 years of pancake breakfasts and fully funded school programs. Milestones like that belong to everyone who makes the work possible, and our sponsors are a big part of that story.
So to the team at Save-On-Foods: thank you. Whenever you see the Lions out flipping pancakes or grilling burgers for a good cause in Lynn Valley, there is a very good chance Save-On-Foods helped stock the pantry to make it happen.
