As part of Lions International Centennial Environment pillar, our Lion, Dylan Bamforth, teamed up with Oceans Legacy Foundation to help clean shoreline and complete NOAA field surveys along the Brooks Peninsula on Vancouver Island March 1530. Mapping global hot spots, Ocean Legacy strives for sustainability, justice and global interconnectedness helping identify critical issues confronting our planet. Current fundraising is in operation, including new mobile plastic to fuel conversion unit technology.
A big thank you Lynn Valley Families, sponsors and everyone who purchased a Lions Christmas Tree this year. Post your Christmas Tree pics on facebook for all to enjoy. Great work Lion Cam and all the LV Lions including NS Twins baseball, Argyle Piper Football and the big job of unloading with 103 Air Cadets. Remember, our Chip Up at Karen Magnesun Rec Centre is by donation Sat and Sun Jan. 3 and 4, 2015. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
At least 24 local families this year were presented with a custom Lynn Valley Lions Christmas hamper assembled and delivered with Christmas wishes and all made possible from proceeds of our Christmas tree sales. The following is an excert from a letter received. It sums up nicely why we are Lions. “I believe you took my call for a Christmas Hamper. I arrived home with my young daughter and saw the hamper at the door. I was so moved by the generosity, it was hard to keep the tears back. I have never asked for this kind of help before…I also appreciate your discretion in taking my call…the Club fills a very important need. On behalf of my daughter and I thank you for the wonderful Christmas gift.
During Labour Day weekend, Lions were on Lions. A great trek to summit 7000′ overlooking Vancouver and Howe Sound. Awesome endeavour with Lions Robb, Eric, and Rob with potential Leo (Rob’s son).
Great progress occuring with the construction of Lynn Valley’s first Community Garden. Many thanks to the organizers and many volunteers and tradesmen to help make this project happen. Special Thanks to Lions Eric and Dylan as well as Marj, Maja, Glenn and Steve from North Shore Community Garden Society.
The 2014 Canada Parade was a great success. There were 80 entries and approx 20,000 spectators along the North Vancouver Route. The Lynn Valley Lions served over 620 pancake breakfasts beforehand at Grand Boulevard to generate almost $2000 for Lions Community Programs. After the Parade, many gathered at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 118 for a BBQ thanking the volunteers. Great Job Lions!

On Easter Sunday April 20, twenty five LV Lions and family members, including the easter bunny, visited seniors and delivered approx 600 chocolate boxes. While visiting Evergreen House, Lions Gate Palliative Care, Lynn Valley Lodge and Cedarview Manor, one senior insisted we take a $5 donation for the chocolates! A big thanks again to Lion George and everyone involved.
